The Order of the Sun

The Order of the Sun is a small faction that maintains a military force whose main tenets are peacekeeping and cooperation. The leader of the faction is also the leader of the military force, though they utilize the division leaders as advisers, as well as prominent civilians. In structure, they are loosely based on the Knights of Mondolin, due to their origins. However, they have strayed from the Knights’ hierarchy a bit in recent years, resulting in the Order as it currently exists. The Knight-Commander title has been retained, more for historical significance than anything else, but the other titles have dropped the Knight prefix. This is to emphasize the difference between the rigidity of the Knights of Mondolin and the relative openness and adaptability of the Order’s own hierarchy. R-5^ is needed to become Knight-Commander.

Military Division
The main combat force of the Order. This division is loosely based on the Knights of Mondolin, though their numbers are much fewer and their technology less advanced. They specialize in small-unit tactics, though they can be a robust and well-drilled force when needed.

Information Gathering Division
The eyes and ears of the Order, this division are masters of blending in, meaning that the Order is made aware of more than people may think. Many Eldross that decided not to join their kin in the Eternal Watch have ended up here, the most famous being the Captain, Shran Trostani.

Medical and Magical Division
The main strength of the Order lies in its ability to attract gifted healers. This division keeps the primary mission of the Order going, famously providing medical support to victims of the Second Great War and the Onyxus event. Their magic users are generally healing or defensive specialists, though any type of magic-user is welcome.

General Service
Due to the small and eclectic nature of the Order's forces, not everyone joins with an obvious role to play. This can be due to having no specific area of expertise, or having too many so that pigeon-holing them in a particular division would waste their other skills. Members of the General Service are used in a multitude of roles depending on what a particular situation calls for, and are fully capable of supporting the specialized divisions in whichever task they are assigned.
