Personality: Odric Mantell is a man of vision and virtue. He is a firm believer in the strength of peace over war, and that much more can be achieved when everyone works together. It is his concrete devotion to this vision of co-operation that led him to leave his post as a senior diplomat in the Kingdom of Mondolin and join the Order of the Sun. Odric retains a strong love for his former homeland, but he sees the Order as a more effective use of his skills, and a better way of reaching his goal. Odric was one of the more talented diplomats Mondolin had to offer, with his strong sense of empathy and his seemingly endless patience serving him well in his duties. He is also a very astute judge of character, being able to study a person’s more subtle movements and inflections to get a more accurate read of their disposition. It is not always correct, but his years of experience mean it is accurate more often than not.

Odric has a special connection to those under his command in the Order. He cares about every single person who serves the Order and he makes sure he has an open door for anyone who needs it. He tries to greet every new recruit personally when they join, and even if he can’t he makes it his business to meet them later. He especially takes an almost surrogate father role with Kairi Thorne, having bonded with her over her mastery of Starlight, the legendary weapon of Solden Kallis, the founder of the Order. Like Odric himself, Kairi was found to be worthy of wielding the great weapon, so he bestowed it to her, as he is not a warrior. Odric saw in Kairi the same conviction and faith that he possessed, and took her under his wing. He also cares a great deal for Kairi’s adopted mother, Randalla Thorne. Randalla joined the Order around the same time as Odric, and has become his most trusted advisor and good friend.

Appearance: Odric appears as a regal and distinguished man with a presence that commands respect but also radiates warmth and understanding. He has long hair that he keeps tied back, that was once fully black but is now grey with a streak of its former color remaining at the front, and he has a short salt-and-pepper goatee. He has piercing blue eyes that seem to radiate a wisdom not usually seen in the relatively short-lived Humans. He is of average build and height.

Clothing: Odric can usually be found sporting the simple regalia of his office. He dislikes appearing too regal or noble, so he usually pairs a blue button-down shirt with a navy overcoat. When Odric finds himself needing to be combat ready, he wears a Mondolin-style breastplate under his coat, along with similarly-styled bracers and greaves.
