Personality: Kaiden and Kaina Loris are as close a pair of siblings as it is possible to be. Originally identical in both appearance and outlook, there are now marked differences in their personalities due to their divergent paths through life before fate would bring them back together and put them on the Gambit as members of a crew that have now become family. The twins share that special bond that only twins can, with a noticeable habit of finishing each other’s sentences, and they function as a cohesive unit to ensure that Captain Raya Nakamoto’s prized vessel is in tip-top shape at all times. They both possess vast experience as mariners, with their Undari heritage giving them a calming oneness with the seas that they travel. They also hold a deep and lasting respect for their crewmates, particularly Raya for giving them a chance even though they were technically enemies at the time they first met. They are also very fond of jokes and pranks, particularly at Radahn’s expense, but it is all in good fun as they consider the Heanta to be a father figure to them both.

Kaiden and Kaina are both very similar in how they think, though there are pronounced differences that they have learned to combine well in order to maintain a balanced outlook. Kaiden’s military service has made him a bit more brash and forthright, while Kaina is more reserved and considered in her thought processes, and their chosen fighting styles reflect this dichotomy. These differing viewpoints allow Kaiden and Kaina to appreciate multiple approaches, and thus makes them both open-minded and adaptable. They both were scarred by what they discovered about their people after contact was lost with Medin Taji, and they both bear a mixture of fear and resentment towards the shortsighted psychopath responsible for single-handedly destroying the once proud aquatic nation.

Kaiden and Kaina are identical twins, though there are a number of small differences that tell them apart besides their gender. Kaiden is slightly taller and broader in the shoulder, with a slight severity to his features from his time in the Undari military, while Kaina has more delicate and slightly rounder features. They both have mint-green skin, crimson eyes and black hair, though Kaina has blonde highlights in hers. They are both athletically built, and both possess a sturdiness and suredness in their bearing from their years on the seas.
Clothing: Kaiden and Kaina both eschew armour, preferring to rely on agility in a fight or their captain’s ability to avoid that fight. They both favour simple sailing attire constructed from various durable leathers and hides, though both also possess fur garments and cloaks for colder climates.

Fighting style

General Fighting Tactics: Despite being a competent marksman with his hunting bow, Kaiden is primarily a melee fighter. The shape of his trusted blade suits Kaiden's style of fighting, which has been strongly influenced by his military experience. More than other Undari, he uses his acute sense of balance and exceptional hand-eye coordination to outmanoeuvre his opponents, using the strength of their blow against them by taking the blow high up in their swing and redirecting it, using the length of his blade. Once off-balance, his foes become vulnerable to his lightning-fast counterattack, which is normally two-handed. The sword also gives him the superior reach to thrust past an enemy's defence using a one-handed strike.

Kaina, conversely to her brother, is a true markswoman. She is serviceable with a blade, but her main value is being the best shot on Raya’s crew, and this skill is put to use regularly when dealing with dangerous enemies. A particular strength of Kaina’s is her ability to accurately hit her target while either or both of them are moving. This is particularly useful when the crew of the Gambit is confronted by a naval force. Kaina can be relied upon to provide pinpoint ranged support in any situation, with her finesse complementing the power and brute force of Radahn’s Diplomat well, either picking off unarmored targets or harrying tougher foes to give the Heanta an opening for a decisive strike.

Where the twins really shine, however, is when they are together. Their sibling bond gives them almost a “sixth sense” of where the other is, as well as an innate knowledge of each other’s skills and health. When fighting together, Kaiden provides a close range buffer while Kaina deals with the longer ranges of combat. Kaiden’s strong defensive ability allows him to deal with foes while taking little damage himself, a necessity given that neither twin wears armour in order to maximise speed and mobility. Depending on the situation, Kaiden and Kaina are both able combatants in melee and ranged battle, but they are downright deadly as a team.

Strengths:

• Sibling Bond: When fighting together, Kaiden and Kaina have the significant advantage of their shared twin bond. This gives them each an almost preternatural awareness of the other, as well as the ability to predict each other’s movements and strategy. This connection gives them an advantage by allowing them to synchronise with little or no communication, and to combine their skills quickly and effectively to fit the situation.
  
• Exceptional Balance and Dexterity: The twins have spent most of their lives on the water, through both calm and stormy conditions. As such, they have developed an extraordinary sense of balance, giving them advantages in mobility on the battlefield. They also possess exceptional hand-eye coordination from the speed at which they have to make adjustments navigating the seas aboard the Gambit.
  

Weaknesses:

• No Powers: Kaiden and Kaina lost their Adasma weapons long ago, leading to the loss of their powers. As such, they only have access to their Undari Water Manipulation, but no custom powers.
  
• Sibling Dependence: Kaiden and Kaina are a formidable duo, capable of dealing with a multitude of situations. However, even though both of them are competent fighters in their own right, their effectiveness is drastically reduced if they are isolated from each other, and they can be overrun easily.

Description:
Although a sailor by trade, Kaiden carries a warrior's sword: nearly five feet long, its narrow fullered blade is four feet from divinium cross-guard to sharply tapered tip. This gives the blade a powerful combination of strength, reach and speed. Because of its length, the sword has a long handgrip bisected by a steel ring, so that it can be gripped with either one or two hands depending on the method of attack, and the blade is counterbalanced by a large scent-bottle-shaped pommel. The scabbard is plain but had wrapped to it under the leather covering a small second scabbard that contains a utility knife, which is used for day-to-day tasks such as cutting rope, cutting wood for kindling, cutting twine and rawhide for repairs and other sundry chores.

Description:
Kaiden also carries with him a small bow of dark-stained wood, about three feet long, which is used more for hunting than as a ranged combat weapon. The bow is made from a single piece of wood, with a subtle curve introduced into the stave during its manufacture. The string is held under high tension, so Kaiden carries the bow unstrung whenever possible to preserve its effectiveness. The arrows are only about twenty inches long, and the bow has an effective range of only about 75 yards.

Description:
Lancer is a wondrous piece of bow-making. Purchased from an Eldross bowyer, Lancer is a large recurve bow that stands at 4 feet tall when strung with an intricate design on the staff reminiscent of creeping ivy. The quality of the craftsmanship means that although the draw weight is no more than a standard bow of its size, it manages an effective range of 200 yards. Lancer is made of Twilight Wood, and the arrows are made of ash with ornate steel heads and gargwa feather fletches.

Description:
Though primarily a ranged combatant, Kaina carries a well-made sidearm when close work is needed. Kaina’s sword is standard-sized arming sword, with a narrow, fullered blade roughly 30 inches long. The handle is wrapped in green leather, with an ornate steel pommel and slightly-curved crossguard.

Apprentice Water Abilities

Description: Kaiden and Kaina channel sea-green colored energy into their hands, causing them to glow brightly.
Effect: (Liquid based) Kaiden and Kaina are skilled in the manipulation of a water. They can manipulate water in several ways, like throwing waves, making a wall of liquid, or making elaborate traps. They can launch small, medium or large projectiles, which travel up to 100ft, 50ft or 25ft respectively, and deal moderate physical damage for their size. An often-used technique is to form a sphere of water around themself and up to two others (depending on size) in order to traverse a body of water. The sphere is 8ft in diameter, and provides no physical protection save for keeping water and small water life out, and oxygen in. The sphere contains enough air to supply three average-sized people for the duration of the ability, and it can be propelled through water at roughly the same speed they can swim. Undari also receive a +1 bonus to speed as long as they are using their water manipulation.
Duration/Cooldown: 3 post duration with power points reduced by 2 for the duration, 4 post cooldown.


History: Kaiden and Kaina Loris are identical twins born 395 years ago in Medin Taji. The children of merchants, the twins were well versed in geography and trade from a young age. They planned to follow their parents into the trade business, but things changed when the Second Great War broke out. Kaiden was conscripted into the armed forces as the call went up for every able-bodied man to report for duty. Kaina took a posting on a supply ship, given that trade jobs were limited by the war. As fate would have it, the ship Kaina was on was drafted into service to try and blockade the River Undine in Mondolin territory. Kaina had befriended the Heanta first mate on the ship, a massive man named Radahn, and there was also an Undari scholar named Xinra Kal’Dior who had booked passage west. Kaiden was part of the team that seized the vessel.

Kaiden had already become disillusioned with military life, and seeing his sister and the other crew being treated poorly was the last straw. He tried to mount a mutiny, but they failed to capture the soldiers on board and were instead suppressed and put to work propelling the ship to its destination. Then, in another twist of fate, their ship was attacked and disabled by a Mondolin vessel, and they were all taken prisoner. Once the war ended, the Mondolin ship was taken by a seemingly-Human captain, Raya Nakamoto, and she offered amnesty if they would serve aboard her ship. Even though they were enemies at one point, Raya had no prejudice in her mind, she simply saw talented people who were forced into a bad situation. The twins joined immediately, looking forward to fulfilling their dreams of becoming renowned traders. Radahn also accepted, along with Xinra, and the family was formed.

After serving for centuries together, the crew of the Gambit received word that Medin Taji had gone dark. Upon investigation, Raya and the crew discovered that a magic ritual had gone terribly wrong. A curse was attempted on the Eldari in revenge for the death of Analia Morin, but it backfired and the population of Medin Taji was devastated. The new ruler, calling herself the Blight Witch, was extremely powerful and clearly mad. Despite their initial protestations, it was clear that the great Undari city was beyond saving, and they moved to look to the future instead. Whatever came at them next, Kaiden and Kaina rested in the knowledge that their new family would meet it together.
