Magecraft and non combat spells
Magecraft skill is the level of knowledge a person has in regards to spell casting outside of  combat. Higher Magecraft allows characters to perform more advanced none combat spells from this list. This is the art used by anyone who fancies themself a mage. Some of the spells require skills outside of magecraft. All magecraft spells are non combat only, they require far more concentration than the standard combat spell to cast, and cannot be used when fighting.

Cantrips
Having Apprentice or higher magecraft, and at least average magical power, allows you to perform some very simple tasks or tricks with magic. They user can use magic to:


  • increase the volume of your voice to a shout without shouting.
  • produce a harmless flame that can be used to light candles or a fire.
  • billow your clothing dramatically.
  • Change the color of hair or clothing. Effect lasts 6 hours.
  • Draw enough moisture from the air to fill a water skin or bowl.
  • Create a tiny light that produces enough light to drive back the darkness 30ft in all directions. The light can follow the user or be given a set location.
  • Etch writing or drawings into stone.
  • Move a single object with no more than 5lbs of weight with your mind within 10ft of you.



Components
Some spells require components to cast, or a catalyst. A catalyst is an object the user uses to focus the magic required for the spell. A catalyst can be anything from a necklace to one of the caster’s weapons. Catalysts are free, unless they have additional magical properties such as enchantments, or are an additional weapon that does not come with the character. All components are free, their main existence to provide RP value to spellcasting.

Spell slots
Base Magical power decides how many non combat spells a person can learn, per rank of Magecraft. Base Magical power is the magical power a character has when their app is created and does not include any boosts. A human with Good magical power and The Magical Spirit trait counts as having Very Good magical power in regards to this chart. Spells can also be traded down, so someone at apprentice could take an extra novice spell but not the other way around.

Calm Aurathe user creates a blanket of tranquility around them, calming all non magical animals and weak willed npcs. Attacking someone under its effects will cause them to be freed from it. It has a thirty foot area of effect.CatalystAdept
Suggestionthe user sends out a powerful psychic suggestion, targeting one or more individuals and planting an idea that they want to act on in their mind. Weak willed npcs easily fall prey to the suggestion, and while it can affect PCs it's down to user discretion if it works, and how well at that. The suggestion can be an instruction such as calm down, go home, put down your weapons, be friendly, and so on. CatalystAdept
Telepathythe User can speak to and receive thoughts from another individual through their mind. The user must see their target before they can establish the connection, but once the mental connection is established if the target goes out of sight the user can still communicate with them. The recipient can block their thoughts or even disable the connection if they know how, and getting at least 100yards away is enough to break the connection.CatalystAdept
Magic LockLock an object or door with magic. The caster, and those with the passphrase can open the lock as normal. Lasts 6 hours.Catalyst, key shaped waxAdept
TelekinesisThe user uses magic to move objects with their mind. They can move up to 100lbs of weight at any one time, and a max of 5 objects at the same time. This has a range of 30ftCatalystJourneyman
LevitationThe user uses their magic to levitate themselves for a limited amount of time. They can ascend up to 100ft, traveling at their normal landspeed. The spell lasts for 10 mins.CatalystJourneyman
Enhance SensesThe user can enhance their choice of sight, hearing or smell. The spell doubles the range that they can see or hear, and they can detect and identify faint smells that otherwise might be missed.NoneJourneyman
Water BreathingThe user grows gills, allowing them to survive underwater for the duration of the spell. The spell lasts 1 hour, however, if the user loses focus the spell lasts 10 minutes, giving them time to escape a watery end.NoneExpert
RegroupThis spell has two parts to it. The first part is the creation of a magical beacon. This can be any object the user can touch, and it remains active for 6 hours. Then, once the beacon has been set, the user can instantaneously teleport themselves and any other person they are touching to the beacon, provided they are within 5 miles of the beacon. The beacon is immediately destroyed once used, and there can only be one beacon active at anytime.. Materials to build the beacon,

Expert
GatewayThe caster creates a gateway that allows them to teleport to specific waypoints dotted around Ka’Lesa. Some of these waypoints are locked and require an emblem or sigil to access. The caster needs to build a doorway of stone, wood or other materials. The user then casts the spell, thinking of their target gateway and holding any appropriate emblems. The magic consumes the construction and creates a 7ft x 5ft wide gateway. The gateway remains open for up to an hour, and closes as soon as one person travels through it.
