Character information

Name: Radahn Starscourge
Race: Heanta
Appearance Age: Late 40s
True Age: 608
Sex: Male
Personality: Radahn is a gruff but good-natured Heanta, a pariah among his own people for his aversion to combat as well as the loss of his Demon Matrix. Radahn is formerly of the Starscourge family, though he has not used that name since he left Kyrias. He still possesses the toughness and durability required to survive the centuries he served in the Kyrias military, though he lacks the sheer thirst for violence that usually accompanies it. Atypical for a Heanta, Radahn prefers the diplomatic battle that is the merchant trade, and it is a career he pursues with vigour. He is renowned as being a shrewd and opportunistic negotiator, preferring to use his wit over his more obvious physical gifts as it is not expected for a massive and imposing Heanta, though he has used his stature on occasion to accentuate his diplomatic leverage.

Disillusioned with his own people, Radahn has found a new lease of life since being recruited by Raya Nakamoto in the aftermath of the Second Great War. He holds his captain in the highest regard, as she was one of the few who could see past his outward appearance and appreciate his value as a member of her crew aboard Raya’s Gambit. As the elder statesman of the crew, Radahn is usually the butt of jokes from his younger shipmates, particularly the Undari twins Kaiden and Kaina Loris, but they all hold immense respect for his skills as both ship’s quartermaster and chef. Radahn himself highly values the company of Xinra Kal’Dior, a kindred soul given both of their aversions to conflict and preference for diplomacy. Radahn speaks with a deep, refined voice, much like the affluent merchants of Mith Silvanus, another trait that sets him apart from his usually boorish and unsophisticated fellow Heanta. He abhors fighting, though he will fight when needed by the situation, but not without a significant amount of grumbling.

Likes: Trading, Cooking, Sailing
Dislikes: Fighting, Pirates, Bandits
Fears: The Blight Witch of Medin Taji, Spiders, Snakes

Appearance

Height: 7’ 2”
Weight: 328 lbs
Appearance:
Radahn (Crew of Raya's Gambit) Radahn12
Radahn is a tall, muscular and imposing Heanta, with large bull-like horns that protrude from the sides of his head. His once-red hair is now jet white, as is the neat chin beard he carefully maintains. His gruff expression hides a generally good-natured individual.
Clothing: Radahn favours simple merchant garb, though he possesses a number of fancier outfits that he had to have tailor-made for his massive frame.

Fighting style

General Fighting Tactics: When brought into combat, Radahn favours his crossbow where possible. He is a competent marksman, though not quite up to the standards of Kaina Loris, and the unique properties of the Diplomat allow him to dish out massive damage from range. The Diplomat’s deployable bayonet blade gives him a physical deterrent for any that get close, something he must rely on to make up for his lack of mobility.

When Radahn is forced into full melee combat, he has the potential to cause massive damage to any foe. He will use the Diplomat’s bayonet to deal with stragglers, but if assailed by multiple foes he will bring Lulabelle to bear. The massive frying pan is a monstrous weapon that can only be wielded by beings with comparable strength to Radahn himself. When surrounded, Radahn will dual-wield Lulabelle and the Diplomat, becoming a devastating whirlwind of destruction with each swing having the potential to end a foe’s day.

Combat Stats-

Strength || Amazing
Speed || Poor
Agility || Poor
Durability || Excellent
Stamina || Poor
Magical Power || None

Strengths:

  • Experienced Marksman: Radahn is a competent and consistent marksman, and can be usually relied upon to provide accurate ranged support.
  • Military Background: Radahn had a long and distinguished career in the Heanta military, and as such is an experienced campaigner when it comes to combat and support in the field, as well as battlefield tactics.

Weaknesses:

  • No Powers: Radahn’s Demon Matrix was destroyed when he was younger, signalling the end of his military career. He has lost access to his powers, relying instead on his physical prowess and military experience to compensate.
  • Power Over Finesse: Radahn has focused on his strength and durability, in order to try and compensate for his lack of mobility. He was never the quickest, even in his younger years, but his advancing years have robbed him of another yard of pace. He relies on a power-heavy offence, in the hopes of quickly ending any fights he ends up in. This comes with a drawback, in the form of large openings in his defences due to him putting so much into each swing.

Weapons

Primary Weapon
Name: The Diplomat
Type: Crossbow
Description:
Radahn (Crew of Raya's Gambit) Radahn13
The Diplomat is a massive, ornate crossbow that Radahn has carried since his days in the Heanta military. It has a carved Twilight Wood stock and is adorned with brass embellishments. The Diplomat has four limbs instead of the usual two, and it requires enormous physical strength to draw, at least Very Good strength. The benefit of this is a powerful shot that is suited for punching through armour and light shields, as well as being able to penetrate multiple unarmored foes. During melee combat, the Diplomat possesses a retractable divinium bayonet that slides out of a slot under the bolt.
Enchantments:

Name: Aggressive Diplomacy
Type: Offensive
Damage Category: Strong
Description: The Diplomat can charge the currently loaded bolt with explosive energy. Once launched, the bolt will travel until it hits something, at which point it will explode and deal Strong damage to everything in a 5ft radius.
Duration/Cooldown: 4 posts

Secondary Equipment
Name: Lulabelle
Type: Large Frying Pan
Description:
Radahn (Crew of Raya's Gambit) Radahn10
Lulabelle is Radahn’s trusted frying pan, tool of both his culinary and martial arts. Lulabelle is made of solid divinium with a Twilight Wood handle, with the thick head of the pan measuring 2ft across with a 2ft long handle. The weapon requires enormous power to wield, to the point that it requires at least Very Good strength to wield it one-handed.

Background

History: Radahn was born into the Starscourge family, a minor if reputable family within the Warrior Caste that had a history producing dependable warriors. Radahn was no different with his natural gifts serving him well over a long and distinguished career. However, if you ask the man himself, he will tell you that he was never happy. Though he gladly fought for his clan and his people, Radahn always wondered if there was something more. As opposed to his more battle-minded kin, Radahn always had a greater appreciation for contests of the mind rather than of the body. He still honed both, becoming a renowned and respectable military man.

This all changed when Radahn was injured during the Second Great War. His unit had been ambushed by an Eldari attack force on the border between Endaron and Kyrias, and his Demon Matrix was shattered by a massive blast from a particularly powerful Magi. He recovered the shards, but the Matrix was beyond salvage. In Heanta society, the loss of one’s Demon Matrix was seen as the ultimate disgrace for a soldier, and he subsequently became a pariah among his people. All of his achievements and accolades were for nothing as he was forced to serve on a boat with Undari soldiers that was sent up the River Undine to blockade the river. He had been disillusioned with Heanta society for some time before the war broke out, and this was the last straw. But it was also a blessing in disguise.

The boat Radahn was pressed onto was caught and captured by naval forces from the Kingdom of Mondolin, and he and his unwilling crewmates were captured. The original crew of the boat were captured along with him and the military personnel. As it happened, the boat they found themselves on belonged to a pair of Undari twins named Kaiden and Kaina Loris, and they had been ferrying a young scholar named Xinra Kal’Dior when they had been commandeered by the Undari military and conscripted into service. Radahn was at a low point, but his luck was about to change.

Raya Nakamoto, a member of the crew of the ship that had captured them, had assumed command of the ship, now called Raya’s Gambit, and she had extended an offer to serve with her. The twins were resourceful sailors, and the young scholar was clever if a bit socially awkward. Radahn saw an opportunity, and he forged a successful career as the Gambit’s quartermaster and primary tradesperson, and he finally found a place for himself as he proved himself to his new family and to himself over the years and countless adventures the crew of the Gambit embarked on.
